Calvary Cemetery
The Catholic Cemetery is the last resting place of the bodies of the faithful departed awaiting reunion with their souls at the resurrection on the Last Day.
Blessed by the Church and dedicated to God, the Catholic cemetery testifies to a faith in the immortality of the soul and the promise of resurrection with Christ the Lord. Here the living find comfort and are consoled by visiting the burial places of their loved ones and praying for them.
In 1952 a six acre tract of land was acquired on University Lane about three miles from St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Aiken, SC, as a site for a parish cemetery. It is a consecrated burial plot for use of all members of Catholic Churches in the Aiken area.

St. Mary’s Help of Christians Church Columbarium
There has been a growing trend over the past many years showing that our families are choosing cremation. Creating a sacred space on our church campus where their cremains may be placed is another way of honoring them, and allowing them to rest in their own faith community. A columbarium niche is an affordable option.
A columbarium at St. Mary’s will make it convenient for family and friends to visit their loved one’s final resting place as well as continue the churchyard burial tradition. The natural beauty and tranquility of our Parish Garden Columbarium is a beautiful and inviting place for remembrance, prayer and reflection.
Contact Patrick Wray at 803-646-4373 or 803.649.4777 Ext. 3, or Karen Van Deren, Columbarium Coordinator, at 803.979.3181 to make an appointment.
