Legion of Mary

Relying on Our Lady’s intercession, the Legion of Mary seeks to build the Kingdom of God by serving the needs of our parish and community under the guidance of our pastor. It was founded in 1921 and is in about 170 countries.

The Legion of Mary focuses on the Spiritual Works of Mercy, offering you the opportunity to not only grow in your own faith, but to evangelize, sharing your faith with others. All Active Members work with a partner, so you can learn as you go!

There are two ways to volunteer!

Become an Active Member

  • Attend a weekly 1 – 1 ½ hour meeting for prayer, planning, and work reports.
  • Spend 2 hours/week on the active duty assigned to you and your partner.
  • The active duty fulfills a spiritual need in the parish or community. See particular praesidia below for examples.

Become an Auxiliary Member

  • The Auxiliary Members are the “Praying Arm” and, therefore, the strength and support of the Active Members of the Legion.
  • An Auxiliary’s work is praying daily a few short prayers in addition to the rosary, for the intention of the work of the Legion (about 30 min. total).
